Daniil Kvyat will spearhead G-Drive Racing by Algarve Pro Racing’s assault on the LMP2 class of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship. The extremely successful Russian, who so far has enjoyed three podiums in 110 Formula One starts will therefore also make his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut as the Russian team returns to full-time FIA WEC competition.
G-Drive Racing competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship full-time between 2012 and 2017, amassing LMP2 class victories and the World Championship crown in 2015. In addition to its success on the global stage, the Russian team also won three titles and 10 races in the European Le Mans Series, making G-Drive Racing the most successful team in Le Mans-style competition in this century.
Daniil Kvyat will join Australian James Allen and Austrian Rene Binder in the team’s return to the world championship, creating a line-up that embodies star power, raw speed, and experience in endurance racing in equal measure. The FIA World Endurance Championship is set to start with the 1000 miles of Sebring in March, with the legendary Florida track arguably the toughest test on machinery. The season then continues with races at iconic tracks like Monza, Spa-Francorchamps, Bahrein, and Fuji, the first three al venues where Daniil Kvyat has taken Formula One points.
The main jewel of the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar is without a doubt the 24 hours of Le Mans. The 90th running of the biggest motorsport event in the world will be held on the 11th and 12th of June and remains the biggest point of focus for G-Drive Racing.
