George Kurtz

President & CEO of CrowdStrike, former CEO of Foundstone, former CTO of McAfee and author of Hacking Exposed, George Kurtz spearheaded the CrowdStrike Racing by APR LMP2 programme. Most notably, CrowdStrike Racing by APR raced to a momentous LMP2 Pro-Am victory in the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the team also took on and won the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin Endurance Cup, Kurtz securing the Jim Trueman Award as the best-placed Bronze-graded driver. These successes earned automatic invitations to the 2024 edition of Le Mans and the CrowdStrike-APR partnership was extended into another season of IMSA competition.

Colton Herta

Colton Herta

Colton Herta became the youngest driver ever to win an NTT INDYCAR SERIES race at 18 years, 359 days old during his rookie 2019 season, but he had nine victories and 14 pole positions to his name, having led 1147 laps over 99 career starts by the end of 2024. However, the Andretti Global racer has also triumphed outside of American open-wheelers, as he notably stands as a two-time Rolex 24 winner who also added a Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring victory to his illustrious résumé. Importantly, Herta is well-acquainted with CrowdStrike’s George Kurtz, as both took the Hyundai i30 N TCR they shared with Colton’s father Bryan to P1 in class in the 2018 WeatherTech Raceway California 8 Hours at Laguna Seca.

Malthe Jakobsen

Malthe Jakobsen

Malthe Jakobsen, the 2022 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) LMP3 Champion and Team Peugeot TotalEnergies driver in the FIA World Endurance Championship, achieved overall wins in the Asian Le Mans Series and LMP2 Pro-Am trophies in the ELMS and at the Centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023. The Dane added to his tally on his debut with CrowdStrike Racing by APR in the 2023-24 Asian Le Mans curtain-raiser in Malaysia, and remained with the team as it attempted to reach victory lane in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Toby Sowery

Toby Sowery

Toby Sowery has shown grit and determination throughout his career, ascending the single-seater ladder in spite of frustrating budgetary constraints. The Cambridgeshire, UK racer, a karting contemporary of Formula 1 stars Lando Norris and George Russell, made it as far as the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship before heading across the Atlantic to set off on the ‘Road to Indy’. He won the MotorSport Vision F3 Cup Championship on home soil and India’s MRF Challenge in the earliest stages of his career, to then finish third in the category formerly known as Indy Lights in his rookie 2019 season, having also accrued victories and podiums in Italian F4, International GT Open and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia along the way. Partial INDY NXT campaigns featured some eye-catching performances that led to a maiden IndyCar Series test at Sebring International Raceway, and Sowery also made a big impression on his Le Mans Prototypes debut with Algarve Pro in the 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series to earn a drive with CrowdStrike Racing by APR in the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Kriton Lentoudis

Kriton Lentoudis

Kriton Lendoudis began by dovetailing Ferrari Challenge Europe with competitive outings in iconic machinery from sportscar racing’s super evocative Group C era, including a Mercedes-Benz C11 and Porsche 956C. The Bronze-rated Greek went on to accrue race wins, podium finishes and pole positions in a wide array of historics, from a Jaguar D-Type to a more modern Peugeot 908 HDi FAP prototype, and he eventually won the Group C Championship Class 1 title in 2017. However, his résumé also features the category formerly known as the Blancpain GT Series, as well as the CREVENTIC 24H Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup, where he spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons before stepping up to the European Le Mans Series’ GTE division in 2023, and LMP2 with Algarve Pro Racing the following year in 2024.

Olli Caldwell

Olli Caldwell graduated from karts to the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2016 before turning his focus to Formula 4 categories in Europe, the United Arab Emirates and the UK, where he set a record as the youngest British F4 points scorer. His ascent up the single-seater ladder took him on to F2 via FIA F3, the F3 World Cup and Formula Regional Europe, and selection for the prestigious Alpine Academy led to a simulator role and two F1 tests at Silverstone and Bahrain International Circuit. However, the Oxford-domiciled driver kept his hand in sportscar racing by dovetailing his open-wheel commitments with Gulf 12 Hours and Intercontinental GT Challenge appearances, before launching into a dual LMP2 campaign in the European Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship, which included the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Alex Quinn

Alex Quinn

Alex Quinn was a relative newcomer to endurance racing when he joined Algarve Pro Racing’s 2024 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) LMP2 Pro-Am effort, having initially taken the traditional route from karting to junior single-seaters. Two seasons in the FIA Formula 4 British Championship yielded seven wins, 17 podiums, three poles and four fastest laps, as well as the 2016 Rookie title, but there have also been appearances in the BRDC British F3, Formula Regional European and USF2000 Championships. The Cornwall, UK-based driver went on to be crowned 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup Rookie Champion with two outright race victories, five podiums, one pole and a fastest lap to his credit, and he made an instant impact upon stepping into the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023, as he comes to Algarve Pro as an LMP2 Champion.

Valerio Rinicella

Valerio Rinicella

Valerio Rinicella took his first steps in karting at his local Aprilia circuit and secured victory in six of the nine races he entered during his very first full-time campaign, which preceded a title-winning 2015 season in the Italian ROK Cup. Those successes propelled Rinicella into the Italian Karting and AME Series Championships, and he continued accruing high profile race and title victories across multiple categories en route to international-level WSK and CIK FIA Championships. The Rome-born racer who resides in Lanuvio went on to contest selected Formula 4 rounds in Italy, Iberia and the United Arab Emirates and, in 2023, he made a big splash by finishing third in the F4 Spanish Championship with a tally of two wins, 12 podiums and four pole positions. Two seasons in F4 served as a springboard into Formula Regional by Alpine and the FIA FR World Cup at the Macau Grand Prix, before the Roman driver geared up for a new challenge in endurance sportscar racing.

Colin Braun

Colin Braun was one third of CrowdStrike Racing by APR’s victorious LMP2 Pro-Am driver line-up in the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023. The American reunited with the team and CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz for the championship-winning 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series campaign, as well as their IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin Endurance Cup title-defence.

Alex Lynn

Alex Lynn

One third of Algarve Pro Racing’s 2023 European Le Mans Series Champion driver line-up was British ace Alex Lynn, who remained with the Portugal-based team to defend its crown alongside his high-profile Cadillac Racing Hypercar and Corvette GTD commitments in 2024. Lynn began his single-seater career in Formula Renault UK, dominating the 2011 championship to then progress from British Formula 3 to the FIA European F3 Championship during a 2013 season that concluded with a convincing victory in the Macau Grand Prix. The following year in 2014, he wrapped up the GP3 title and, after a spell in F2, took on Formula 1 Development Driver duties for Williams Racing and then a seat in the FIA Formula E Championship. What would be a long-standing relationship with Aston Martin Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) also proved hugely successful, as victory in the 2020 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans stands among his biggest achievements to date. His speed and ability is undeniable, but Lynn also brought the knowledge, work ethic and mentality of a works driver to Algarve Pro’s championship-winning 2023 ELMS campaign.

Matthias Kaiser

Matthias Kaiser

Matthias Kaiser of Liechtenstein first appeared on the sportscar scene in Porsche Sports Cup Germany but added endurance racing to his résumé when he entered the TCR class of the 2018 CREVENTIC 24H Series, prior to a two-pronged 2019 season that yielded LMP3 titles in the Ultimate Cup and VdeV. Having discovered an affinity with Le Mans Prototypes and a determination to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Kaiser stepped into Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) rules racing, and multiple LMP3 and LMP2 podium finishes in the Asian Le Mans Series, Michelin Le Mans Cup and ELMS ultimately led him to the 2023 FIA WEC, which included that coveted entry to the Centenary edition of Le Mans. These experiences intensified his desire to win and so he joined the Champion Algarve Pro Racing team’s European Le Mans Series ranks as it attempted to defend its titles against an expanded 22-strong LMP2 entry.

Richard Bradley

Richard Bradley

Richard Bradley saw success in karts, Formula BMW, F3 and Japan’s Super Formula before diverting to sportscars in 2013. The UK-born, Hangzhou, China-based driver is a race winner in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), Asian Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), but it was during his third season in Le Mans Prototypes that he reached a personal career zenith by translating pole position into a dominant LMP2 victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Bradley raced with Algarve Pro in the 2021 ELMS and enthusiastically rekindled his long-standing relationship with the Portugal-flagged team in an attempt to win the 2024 ELMS LMP2 Pro-Am title.

Nick Catsburg

Nick Catsburg

Nick Catsburg made a one-off appearance in the opening round of the 2016-17 Asian Le Mans Series – the 4 Hours of Zhuhai – with Algarve Pro Racing Team, and then returned to the fold as a 24 Hours of Le Mans GTE Pro winner for CrowdStrike Racing by APR’s attempt to defend its LMP2 Pro-Am win in the 2024 edition of ‘The Great Race’.

Freddie Tomlinson

Freddie Tomlinson

Freddie Tomlinson, who spent the first three years of his car racing career in the Ginetta Junior Championship, joined Algarve Pro Racing’s 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series effort off the back of two seasons in the British GT Championship, where he was an overall GT4 winner and achieved further podiums. The British racer already has some prototype experience, having demonstrated the Ginetta LMP1 and partaken in LMP3 tests prior to joining Algarve Pro in the 2023 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) Rookie Test at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. There, Tomlinson completed plenty of representative laps and came to understand the challenge of driving LMP2 machinery prior to his competitive debut in the 4 Hours of Sepang at the former home of the F1 Malaysian Grand Prix.

Chris McMurry

Chris McMurry

Chris McMurry has a long history in the top flights of sportscar racing; he participated in nearly 100 American Le Mans Series races between 2002 and 2013 and achieved top results in both LMP1 and LMP2, including a win in the 2005 12 Hours of Sebring and a podium at Petit Le Mans in 2013. Following a five-year hiatus, Phoenix, Arizona-domiciled McMurry returned to competition with Algarve Pro Racing in the 2018-19 Asian Le Mans Series, and he reunited with the three-time Champion team for the 2023-24 season, fresh from two ultra-successful Radical campaigns, in which he won 26 of the 36 races entered.

James Allen

James Allen

James Allen, who finished third in the 2021 ELMS LMP2 classification, committed to a three-pronged 2022 campaign with Algarve Pro Racing that was made up of full seasons in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and European Le Mans Series, as well as an outing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Aussie helped Algarve Pro to multiple class podiums in both the WEC and ELMS that season, but his crowning glory is undoubtedly the LMP2 Pro-Am victory he, Rene Binder and Steven Thomas achieved in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Hereturned to the top step of the iconic Le Mans podium with CrowdStrike Racing by APR the following year in 2023, when he, Alex Lynn and Kyffin Simpson took Algarve Pro to its maiden outright and LMP2 titles in the European Le Mans Series.

Kyffin Simpson

Kyffin Simpson

Kyffin Simpson partnered Alex Lynn and James Allen as one third of Algarve Pro Racing’s title-winning 2023 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) driver line-up. Born in Barbados and raised in the Cayman Islands, Simpson was a leading force in the Caribbean and Floridian karting scenes until his first steps in single-seaters in the 2020 YACademy F4 winter series, in which he achieved podium finishes on his debut. He went on to utterly dominate the 2021 Formula Regional Americas Championship, taking seven wins and 13 podiums to secure the series title with a race to spare. This spectacular performance served as a launchpad into the INDYCAR-supporting Indy Lights championship and a development role with Chip Ganassi Racing, and his single-seater endeavours have been twinned with a campaign in the USA’s premier sportscar category, the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup. Simpson capped off the 2022 season by winning the Petit Le Mans event with a stunning last-to-first drive in the GTD class, building on his success in the 2021 HPD GT3 Academy, and he looked beyond US shores to the Asian Le Mans Series, where he will made his overseas racing debut with Algarve Pro following an LMP2 effort at the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Roman De Angelis

Roman De Angelis

Canadian racer Roman De Angelis partnered Matthias Kaiser and Olli Caldwell to complete the #25 Algarve Pro Racing roster for the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans. De Angelis won multiple races to be Rookie of the Year in Canada’s F1600 Championship Series during his foundational 2016 season, which served as a springboard into a hugely successful GT racing career. The Ontario driver joined the IMSA package the following year in 2017 and, at the age of 16, became the youngest ever Porsche GT3 Cup USA Gold Class Champion with a tally of eight wins. He continued notching up successes in one-make Porsche categories on both sides of the US-Canadian border but later found a home in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GTD division. Capturing the 2022 title is his crowning achievement to date, but he followed that up with runner-up finishes in both the IMSA GTD and GTD Sprint Cup Championships in 2023, while also dovetailing full Pirelli GT4 America Series and 24H Series campaigns. However, he lived out his ultimate childhood dream of competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 2024 edition of the French endurance classic as one third of Algarve Pro Racing’s #25 line-up, made up of British racer Caldwell and Liechtenstein’s Kaiser.

Jack Hawksworth

Jack Hawksworth

Jack Hawksworth, a Lexus Racing factory driver in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GTD Pro division, attained multiple karting championship titles between 2004 and 2010, when he seamlessly transitioned to car racing. Third in the Formula Renault Winter Series, Hawksworth then traversed the Atlantic Ocean to step onto the ‘Road to Indy’, and he secured a record eight victories en route to the 2012 Star Mazda title and further race wins the following year in the 2013 Indy Lights Series. Those successes paved the way to the top tier of American open-wheel racing, the IndyCar Series, which includes the world famous Indy 500. The British driver dovetailed those commitments with a triumphant IMSA LMPC appearance, and that preceded a full-time drive with Lexus, which over a six-year period has yielded multiple victories, including at the 2022 Petit Le Mans, and the 2020 GTD Sprint Championship. For Hawksworth, 2023 marked his seventh consecutive season with Lexus, but it also heralded in a new chapter on the other side of the pond, as he signed up to Algarve Pro Racing’s 2023 European Le Mans Series programme.

Tristan Vautier

Tristan Vautier

Tristan Vautier’s career path took him from Formula Renault in his native France onto the ‘Road to Indy’ in The States, although that period also featured sporadic appearances in FIA Formula 2 and Formula Palmer Audi, as well as a full season in the French GT Championship. The 2010 Star Mazda Series was lucrative, but four race wins, six podiums, four pole positions and four fastest laps led him to championship glory the following year in 2011, which preceded a title-winning rookie campaign in the 2012 Indy Lights Series. Naturally, this served as a springboard into the IndyCar Series, but the Frenchman also dipped into sportscars on both sides of the Atlantic and made a career in international endurance racing, therefore he brought a wealth of GT3 and prototype experience to Algarve Pro Racing’s 2023 European Le Mans Series line-up.

Fred Poordad

Fred Poordad

San Antonio-based Bronze Fred Poordad completed Algarve Pro Racing’s 2023 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) LMP2 Pro-Am line-up. The American began racing Ferrari F430 Challenge and Porsche GT3 Cup cars in Grand-Am and IMSA GT3 Challenge respectively between 2010 and 2013. Although he continued competing on home soil as part of the IMSA package and in the likes of GT World Challenge America, Poordad broadened his horizons by entering the Bathurst 12 Hour in Australia, rounds of the CREVENTIC 24H Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). However, he had only ever raced GT machinery until his maiden LMP2 outing in the 2023 IMSA Rolex 24 at Daytona, which was always intended as a warm-up for his debut season in the ELMS.

Ben Hanley

Ben Hanley

Ben Hanley, who was part of the Renault F1 Driver Development Programme between 2006 and 2008, became a stalwart of international sportscar racing with a strong track record in the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, in which he joined CrowdStrike Racing by APR for a title-winning 2023 Michelin Endurance Cup campaign.

Nolan Siegel

Indy NXT single-seater star Nolan Siegel – a fairly recent revelation for the endurance sportscar racing community – completed CrowdStrike Racing by APR’s driver roster for the 71st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in 2023, staying aboard for the remaining IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin Endurance Cup rounds.

Esteban Gutierrez

Esteban Gutierrez holds Reserve Driver roles at the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 and Mercedes Benz EQ Formula E teams while racing prototypes in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), and he joined CrowdStrike Racing by APR for the opening round of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin Endurance Cup – the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Matt McMurry

Matt McMurry was part of Algarve Pro Racing’s title-winning line-up in the 2016-17 Asian Le Mans Series and 2017 European Le Mans Series (ELMS), before becoming the youngest driver ever to start the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He returned to the Portugal-based team for CrowdStrike Racing by APR’s run at the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin Endurance Cup, which began with the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

John Falb

In 2021, John Falb became the first driver to be crowned Champion across two European Le Mans Series (ELMS) classes after securing the LMP2 Pro-Am trophy while competing under an Algarve Pro Racing-run programme. The Las Vegas driver’s roots lie in two-wheeled competition, but since establishing himself as a three-time Radical Cup USA Champion and a two-time Masters Championship winner in IMSA Prototype Lights, he set his sights on the ELMS. Seven LMP3 podiums during three seasons in the ELMS, as well as an additional podium at each of the five showings of the Michelin Le Mans Cup’s ‘Road to Le Mans’ race, culminated in the 2017 ELMS LMP3 title, but Falb then accrued multiple class podiums to finish runner-up in the 2022 ELMS Pro-Am points.

Rene Binder

Rene Binder headed the Algarve Pro Racing-run charge in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series but went on to race with the team in the and FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), including at the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans. After winning the last race of World Series Formula V8, contesting the American IndyCar Series and testing with Renault Sport F1, the Austrian established himself as a regular points finisher during a solid maiden season in the 2019 ELMS and went on to record an eighth-place result on his debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Keen to return to Le Mans, Binder entered the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series and remained with the Portugal-based team for the 2022 FIA WEC, most notably fighting to a remarkable LMP2 Pro-Am victory at Circuit de la Sarthe with Steven Thomas and James Allen.

Bent Viscaal

Bent Viscaal

Dutch Formula 2 racer Bent Viscaal joined Sophia Flörsch for the duration of a 2022 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) campaign that ended with a momentous podium for Algarve Pro Racing. The Albergen driver first made an impact when he scored four successive second place finishes in four different series, finishing as Vice-Champion in SMP Formula 4, Spanish F4, Euroformula Open and Spanish Formula 3 in 2017 and 2018. From there, he went on to notch up an F3 race win and podium result and earn himself a 2021 Formula 2 seat, but he stepped off the junior single-seater ladder and instead pursued a career in endurance sportscar racing.

Filip Ugran

Filip Ugran

Romanian racer Filip Ugran stepped into the #19 Algarve Pro Racing entry for the concluding parts of the 2022 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. A five-year karting career preceded a three-pronged Formula 4 campaign in Italy, Germany and Spain in 2019, when he became the first Romanian driver to qualify on the front row of an FIA grid and the only Romanian to achieve three consecutive podium finishes in an FIA championship race meeting. During a streamlined 2020 programme, Ugran collected silverware for a race win at Imola and four additional podium finishes in the F4 Italian Championship, and those results aided his progression up onto the next rung of the junior single-seater ladder, the Formula 1-supporting FIA F3 Championship. In 2022, the Tirgu Mures-born racer was a fixture of the Euroformula Open Championship grid, but he swapped ‘wings and slicks’ open-wheelers for Le Mans Prototypes when he rounded out the year with Algarve Pro Racing in the ELMS.

Sophia Flörsch

Sophia Flörsch

n a late change to Algarve Pro Racing’s roster, Sophia Flörsch partnered Ferdinand Habsburg and Richard Bradley in the #24 ‘Drive Fast, Act Faster’ ORECA 07 LMP2 in the season-ending 2021 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) 4 Hours of Portimao. Flörsch began her career in Ginetta Juniors before stepping onto the bottom rungs of the single-seater ladder, dovetailing Formula 4 campaigns in her native Germany and Italy prior to assaults on the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, FIA F3 World Cup and Formula Regional European Championship. She went on to established a strong presence in endurance sportscar competition, twinning a full season in the 2021 DTM with a high-profile LMP2 programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), which included the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, the German racer gladly took up the seat previously held by Mexico’s Diego Menchaca in Algarve Pro’s carbon-negative #24 ORECA before committing to a drive the following year in 2022.

Alex Peroni

Alex Peroni made his endurance sportscar racing debut as part of Algarve Pro Racing’s 2022 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) driver roster. The Tasmanian driver cut his teeth in junior single-seaters, going from Formula 4 to F3 via the Formula Renault Eurocup and VdeV Challenge Monoplace, which he won at the age of 16 to become the youngest Australian to win a European open-wheel championship.

Pietro Fittipaldi – the grandson of two-time Formula 1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi – won the NASCAR Late Model Championship before moving to Europe, and among his most notable accolades are championship victories in Formula Renault 2.0, the MRF formula series and World Series Formula V8 3.5. Those successes opened doors in F1, as the young Brazilian racer took on the role of official test and reserve driver at Haas F1 Team. He participated in pre-season and Young Driver Tests but would race for Haas in the 2020 Sakhir and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, replacing the injured Romain Grosjean, and while he continued with Haas in a reserve driver capacity, he committed to a full ELMS season with G-Drive Racing operated by Algarve Pro Racing.

Rui Andrade made his circuit racing debut in Spanish F4 but progressed quickly in Euroformula Open, Formula Renault Eurocup and UAE F4 before flying the flag for his home country Angola in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series with Algarve Pro Racing. He made a big impression on his endurance sportscar racing debut and, having accumulated three podium finishes alongside John Falb and Franco Colapinto, was retained by G-Drive Racing operated by Algarve Pro Racing for the 2021 ELMS season.

Ferdinand Habsburg

Ferdinand Habsburg began his career by notching up karting titles on home soil in Austria and in Hungary before producing podiums during a successful debut season in Formula Renault in 2014. The Vienna-domiciled driver ended 2016 as Euroformula Open Vice-Champion, taking two race wins, 12 podiums and four pole positions along the way, before entering the Toyota Racing Series, FIA F3 European Championship and the infamous Macau Grand Prix, where a heroic race through the pack saw him receive glowing praise, despite losing the win at the final corner. The 2018 season began with a fifth-place result on his LMP2 debut in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, but a switch to DTM followed and he racked up a pole position, podium and a new lap record at the Nurburgring with Audi Sport Team WRT. Habsburg, along with Rene Binder and Yifei Ye, went on to accumulate two wins and a podium finish to take G-Drive Racing operated by Algarve Pro Racing to its second consecutive Asian Le Mans Series title in 2021. Having made such a big impression, Habsburg was a natural choice for the Portugal-based team’s ELMS line-up, and the partnership led to the launch of the “Drive Fast, Act Faster” campaign for carbon neutrality in motorsport with the Green Future Project.

Diego Menchaca’s racing career began in his native Mexico but quickly moved on to Europe. After two seasons in UK-based Formula Renault and Formula 4 championships, he graduated to the Euroformula F3 Open, in which he achieved five podiums and challenged for the title. The Mexico City resident went on to make his debut in the Formula 1-supporting GP3 Series but changed course the following year in 2019 when he took up a Silver Cup seat in GT World Challenge Europe, before making a “surprising” switch from GT3-spec racing to LMP2 prototypes with Algarve Pro Racing in the 2021 ELMS.

Narain Karthikeyan, India’s first F1 driver, spearheaded the Algarve Pro-supported Racing Team India programme in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series. The programme resurrected a winning driver-engineer partnership between Karthikeyan and Algarve Pro Team Principal Stewart Cox that dates back to Narain’s early racing days in the UK Formula Ford Championship, where they won three of four races to clinch the 1994 Winter Series. Karthikeyan ascended the single-seater ladder over the course of the next 11 years and became India’s first Formula One driver when he signed for the Jordan F1 team in 2005, where he re-connected with Stewart, who was his Chief Mechanic for his debut season in Formula 1. Karthikeyan achieved a best F1 result of fourth and subsequently tested with Williams F1. He then went on to represent his country in A1GP, winning races in that World Cup of Motorsport. He tackled the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2009, racing an Audi R10 and finishing seventh overall He went on to become a firm fixture of Japanese motorsport, having spent five seasons in Super Formula and one year in Super GT as a Honda factory driver. He won the 2019 season-ending DTM x Super GT Dream Race against a field of world-class opposition.

Arjun Maini made a big splash after switching from Formula 2 single-seaters to endurance sportscar racing in 2019 and was subsequently signed up for Algarve Pro’s assault on the 2020 European Le Mans Series (ELMS). Unfortunately, his planned full-season campaign was scuppered by the Coronavirus pandemic and he instead took up a reserve driver role, which led to two race outings at Monza and Portimao. Maini brought plenty of LMP2 knowledge and experience to the Algarve Pro-run Racing Team India programme in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series.

Henning Enqvist raced in national Swedish karting series’ between 2008 and 2012 and made a big splash when he finished second on his debut in the Radical Scandinavia Championship, which was dovetailed with a Radical European Masters programme. The Stockholm-based racer – a Real Estate Management graduate from Oxford Brookes University – progressed to LMP3 competition in the 2017 V de V Endurance Series, where he accumulated a race victory and two podium finishes en route to sixth in the final classification.

The Irishman most notably won the 2016-17 Porsche GT3 Cup Middle East before stepping up to the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) with Algarve Pro Racing, and the Rolex 24 at Daytona winner returned to the fold for the 88th 24 Heures du Mans as part of the G-Drive Racing by Algarve driver line-up.

Algarve Pro Racing fielded a second ORECA 07 LMP2 in the 2019 European Le Mans Series for American young gun James French, swift Swede Henning Enqvist and South Korea’s Tacksung Kim. French from Sheboygan, Wisconsin raced karts from the tender age of five, but laid sold foundations for a career in sportscar racing during five prolific seasons in the C Sports Racer (CSR) class of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). French became a three-time CSR Central Division title-winner and backed up those successes with a maiden American Le Mans Series (ALMS) podium, a third-place result in the 2013 Petit Le Mans and another visit to victory lane the following year at Virginia International Raceway. In 2016, he finished on the podium in six of the 11 United SportsCar Championship races to finish third in the Prototype Challenge Teams’ Championship, although there was a significant upturn the following year in 2017 when he dominated the LMPC class by winning seven of eight races, including the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Leonard Hoogenboom joined the G-Drive Racing by Algarve ranks for a successful title assault on the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series. The young Dutchman achieved victories and podiums upon stepping up to Formula 4 single-seaters and made a splash in endurance sportscar competition when he won three races on his way to the 2018 Michelin Le Mans Cup. In 2019, he successfully dovetailed European Le Mans Series (ELMS) appearances with victorious outings in the Audi Sport Seyffarth R8 LMS Cup, building on his LMP2 baptism with Algarve Pro Racing in the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series.

Olivier Pla joined Algarve Pro Racing for the final phase of the 2019 European Le Mans Series (ELMS), stepping in for the injured Mark Patterson alongside Andrea Pizzitola and John Falb. Pla’s car racing career began in single-seaters at the turn of the Millennium, a Formula Renault Campus France outing preceding a diverse Formula 3 programme that spanned Europe. Highlights included a second-place result in the international Marlboro Masters at Zandvoort, a third place in the F3 European Championship and victory in the International F3 Korea Grand Prix, but his talent took him all the way to the GP2 Series, just one step from Formula 1. It was in 2008 that Pla switched to endurance sportscar racing; that year, the Toulouse-based racer made his first of many 24 Hours of Le Mans appearances, but he would most notably win the Le Mans Series (LMS) LMP2 Championship the following season in 2009. Four years in the LMS’s LMP2 division were interspersed with successful American Le Mans Series (ALMS) campaigns, although he has since become a stalwart of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as part of Ford’s works LMGTE programme, led by Chip Ganassi Racing. However, Pla maintained a strong presence in Le Mans Prototype competition, twice finishing runner-up in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP2 Drivers during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, before winning Petit Le Mans in 2016.

David Zollinger

France’s David Zollinger completed Algarve Pro Racing’s 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans driver line-up, filling the seat vacated by the recently injured Mark Patterson. The Pontarlier resident began his car racing career in the 2000 Formula Renault Campus France series and spent the next five years in single-seaters, dipping into touring cars before making a successful and enduring switch to sportscars. Zollinger, a stalwart of the VdeV Endurance Series, also made sporadic appearances in many other high-profile championships, including the French GT Championship, 24H Series and FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). In fact, he made his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut in 2010 and returned to the twice-around-the-clock enduro in 2017, when he raced to a tenth-place finish in the super-competitive LMP2 division.

Andrea Pizzitola first joined Algarve Pro Racing for the 2016 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and helped the team secure an Asian Le Mans Series title before embarking on a full European Le Mans Series (ELMS) campaign in 2017. He returned to the fold for a stab at the outright 2018-19 title, decided in the season finale at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, and remained with the Albufeira-based team to defend his European crown.

Algarve Pro Racing Team’s gentleman driver pairing, Dean Koutsoumidis and Ate Dirk de Jong, brilliantly overcame exceptionally cold and slippery conditions to take the Gentleman’s Trophy in the 2017-18 Asian Le Mans Series. De Jong benefited from professional coaching from Andrea Pizzitola prior to his maiden LMP2 campaign. The Philippines-based Dutchman went on to win the inaugural Gentleman’s Trophy and remained within the Algarve Pro Racing fold for the 2018 European Le Mans Series (ELMS), as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Denmark’s Anders Fjordbach teamed up with Mark Patterson and Chris McMurry for the 2018-19 Asian Le Mans Series, fronting Algarve Pro Racing’s bid for the newly-introduced Amateur Trophy and a coveted invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fjordbach from Aalborg is best known for competing in the European Le Mans Series’ (ELMS) headlining LMP2 division but began his racing career in the VW Polo Cup and Renault Clio Cup in his native Denmark. He quickly progressed to the Danish Thundersports Championship before ascending to Europe’s most esteemed sportscar categories, adding full VLN, Renaultsport Trophy and Blancpain Sprint Series campaigns to his résumé, as well as a Nürburgring 24 Hours outing and a pair of 24H Dubai victories.
