About Us

In 2010, after spending more than a decade working as a mechanic in Formula 1 and A1 GP, Stewart Cox and wife Samantha decided to take the plunge and form their own team in Portugal, and Algarve Pro Racing was born.

With Stewart as Team Principal and Samantha as Team Manager, they have overseen ultra-successful campaigns at the pinnacle of international prototype racing.

Algarve Pro Racing entered competitions like the Eurocup Megane Trophy and Supercar Challenge before going on to make its debut in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in 2013.

From there, the team has grown exponentially, earning race wins and championship titles in the ELMS, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Asian Le Mans Series, as well as class victories in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Going from strength-to-strength, 2023 was a particularly historic year for the team, which dominated across three continents to win the European Le Mans Series Overall and LMP2 Teams and Drivers Championships for the first time, a record fourth Asian Le Mans title and the LMP2 Pro-Am class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
